As a very late entrant into the world of running following sporting activities of squash and cycling it didn’t take long to realize what was being missed. The first race Carlton London Run (10km) in 2001 became a life changer. A lot of training any many more races followed but not much improvement. It took 5 years to get enough courage to join a running club! With structured training and peers to run with the improvements started. Now there is significant experience to fall back on from cross country, 5km to marathons. Notable achievements have included age category wins across all distances including Virgin London Marathon, Great North Run and representing England Masters in both half marathon and 10km.

With the passion for running, wanting to improve and help others, coaching was the obvious route to follow. After a lot of hard work the following coaching qualifications have been achieved:
UKA Event Group Endurance Coach
UKA Athletics Coach
UKA Coach in Running Fitness

An athlete centred, approachable, enthusiastic and motivational coach with a real passion in helping athletes develop to their full potential. Experienced in coaching junior athletics and adult/ junior running from novice to performance level. Continuously studying  best practises in training methods and techniques that I try and test myself before sharing with my  athletes.

Hear what some of the athletes say:

Running is not as easy as it seems and as for all other sports, a coach is needed. Ged completely changed my approach to running, improving my technique and giving me precious hints. I could reach results not even imaginable before.

I am Alexa. I have always been a runner, literally forever. I ran competitively as a child and teen and I feel like it is part of my DNA. The difference between then and now is that I am a coached athlete. Ged has been my coach since I decided to undertake the London marathon in 2016. He wrote a plan for me, which I followed, and after a couple of successful marathons, I was hooked on being coached and having a formalised plan for a season. I now follow a plan 365 days of the year because it works for me. Ged and I work out my goals for a season, how many days a week I can train, which day will be my rest day and which additional races I want to include and then I “just do it”. My racing times improved consistently over the 3 years until the beginning of 2019, when I absolutely kicked my previous PB’s out of the park (at the age of 40!) for parkrun, 10k, 10 miles, and the half marathon. In addition in 2019 I had the opportunity to represent England 3 times in the V40 age category at 10k and half marathon distances and race as an elite athlete at the Great South Run (alongside Eilish McColgan). I achieved times and dreams in 2019, that even at the start of 2019, I would not have thought conceivable, and it has genuinely made me think that anything is possible with hard work, dedication and the right information. Ged has transformed me from being a runner into an elite athlete and for that I will be eternally grateful. No matter what level of running you do, no matter what your dreams or goals, this could change your life.

I would highly recommend Ged to any athlete looking for professional guidance to improve their running and overall fitness. I absolutely love working with him! He gets to know his client’s goals and history before developing a comprehensive and easy to follow training plan tailored specifically for that athlete. His plans include in-depth descriptions for each workout including strength training, cross-training, nutrition, post-run recovery, and race day strategies. I find him to be extremely helpful and encouraging with constant check-ins and feedback and he is always available to answer any questions. The best decision I’ve ever made in my running life was deciding to work with Ged
